This house dates from the 1840’s, and is listed on Arlington’s Historic Structures Inventory. It had fallen into disrepair, and previous owners had put an unattractive addition on the back.
We restored the house, and extruded the original house’s shape and details to encompass the area of the addition as well. We didn’t expand the house’s footprint, we expanded above that addition and integrated it better into the main house.
We matched the details of the original house, such as the mansard roof, eave brackets, and window casing. In the end, the house looked like it did in the 1840’s, only longer.
